About the Artist – Edith Zalai
Art shaped by colour, movement and organic form
I’m Edith Zalai, the artist and founder behind IdolejaART. My work explores colour, movement, organic structures and the intricate forms that emerge somewhere between nature, memory and imagination.
I create original paintings using acrylic, alcohol ink and mixed techniques, alongside selected digital works developed in Procreate. Across different mediums, the same visual language returns: flowing biomorphic forms, layered detail, expressive colour and a sense of movement.
Finding my own artistic language
I grew up in Transylvania, surrounded by landscapes, cultures and traditions that quietly shaped the way I see the world. I was drawn to art from an early age, although for many years I followed a very different path and studied computer science.
Painting eventually found its way back into my life. After a profound personal loss in 2016, creating became a way to express emotions that were difficult to put into words. I began experimenting freely with acrylic, alcohol ink, watercolour and mixed techniques, gradually developing a visual language that felt completely my own.
Today, my work is defined by vibrant colour, fluid movement, organic shapes and intricate hand-detailed structures. I allow each composition to evolve intuitively, discovering forms and patterns as the work develops rather than forcing it toward a predetermined image.
Some pieces evoke underwater worlds, growth or transformation. Others exist somewhere between the familiar and the imagined. Each work is an individual exploration rather than a repetition of the one before it.
Original art and the world of IdolejaART
My original paintings are individual works of art, created by hand and shaped by years of experimentation with materials and technique. Selected works have also been exhibited internationally.
IdolejaART grew from the idea that art does not have to remain within the walls of a gallery. Original artworks can inspire fine art prints, wall art and carefully selected art-led products that bring part of that creative world into everyday spaces.
This is the idea behind Where Art meets Fashion.
The original work always comes first. Prints and art-inspired products offer another way to experience the artwork while preserving the identity and character of the piece that inspired them.
Beyond the canvas
My creative world also includes digital art, design and storytelling. Leja, the virtual host of IdolejaART, represents this more playful and narrative side of the brand and connects the artwork with everyday inspiration, culture and visual storytelling.
IdolejaART continues to evolve with me, but its foundation remains the same: original art, curiosity, experimentation and the belief that the things that make our work different are often the things that make it worth remembering.
